New Scholarship this year!
The AVA and its sponsors are always looking for ways to support the growth of volleyball in our local community and this year we are proud to announce the first annual AVA Volleyball Youth Scholarship! A scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded at the end of the 2009 summer season to an individual player, between the ages of 12 and 18, based on participation and sportsmanship. The AVA Volleyball Youth Scholarship will be paid to the USA Volleyball recognized club team of the player's choice in the Puget Sound Region and is intended to go towards club costs for that player. To apply for the AVA Youth Scholarship, sign-up in person at any AVA tournament. Deadline for application is Aug 23, 2009.

Saturday May 30th: Men’s and Women’s Open/AA.
Sunday May 31st: Men’s and Women’s A/Novice, Coed Open & Coed A.
• Saturday's tournament prizes will be all money in/all money out (with an "8 to the gate" played for prizes)
• Sunday's tournament winners will be awarded prizes (combination of: Spalding volleyballs, Scott Hawaii flip-flops, Oakley sunglasses and Coastal surf boutique goods)
• Tournament format will be the same as last year: double elimination on Saturday and pool play/double elimination on Sunday.
• Online registration is required again this year and closes at 6:00 pm the day prior to the tournament. Register early online at: www.alkivolleyball.com
• Check-in the morning of the tournament between 7:30-8:00 am. First serve at 8:30 am sharp. Point per minute penalty applies for late arrival after 8:30 am. Everyone must check in at the tournament desk in the morning!

AVA is the official qualifying organization for US Open Beach Volleyball in Seattle, winning your specific AVA division on the Alki Grand August 1st / 2nd or June 28th will get you a free entry into the US Open finals in Manhattan beach, CA in September this year.
AVA Points finishes in all AVA events this year (leading up to seaside), count towards the annual Seaside tournament seeding.
